Tivian Survey Questionnaire

Welcome to our self-test on appearance concerns!

You may use this survey to test the following domains:

• appearance-related concerns that can be as severe as those in body dysmorphic disorder (i.e. persistent preoccupation with a perceived flaw in someone’s own appearance that is however not at all or only slightly visible to others)

• depressed mood

Procedure

You will be presented with questionnaires that are used in clinical psychology research and practice. On the basis of these questionnaires, we will be able to assess appearance-related concerns and depressed mood. After filling out the questionnaires, you will receive individualized feedback based on automatic algorithms. For this, it is important that you answer the questions honestly and that you answer all of them.
 

We investigate Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) in order to continuously improve corresponding diagnostics and treatment. Since we are particularly interested in how affected individuals deal with their current situation, we will also ask you about your strategies of dealing with appearance-related concerns so far.

 

Filling out this questionnaire will take about 30 minutes. Afterwards, you will receive feedback, information about BDD and related issues as well as information about where to find support. 

 

Voluntary nature, anonymity, privacy

Participation is voluntary and you may pause or cancel the self-test at any time. Your answers will be stored anonymously so that no conclusions can be drawn about you. We neither store your IP address nor use cookies. The self-test is carried out using an online survey tool called Unipark. The data will be used anonymously for scientific purposes only (e.g., scientific reports, research projects by students). To comply with recommendations by the World Health Organiuzation and the American Psychological Association, we aim to make the anonymous data set publicly available on https://osf.io/ upon completing data collection.

You will receive no reimbursement for taking part in this self-test, but detailed feedback on your entries.
