We warmly welcome you to the study “An ideal AI Assistant for International Students”
General Information for Participants
Thank you for your interest in our study. We aim to explore which psychological characteristics international students wish for in their ideal generative artificial intelligence assistant across different contexts.
Generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) refers to systems that can autonomously produce new content in the form of text, images, audio, and video, as well as generate new ideas and solutions. Generative AI learns from large amounts of human-generated data. You may already be familiar with some examples of generative AI, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Midjourney, Prezi, and many other tools.
Whether or not you have previously used a generative AI tool is not relevant for participating in this study. What matters is your opinion on the psychological characteristics that your ideal personal generative AI assistant should have. You will be presented with a series of questions and predefined response options from which you will be asked to choose.
This study is intended for international students studying either bachelor or master in Germany. This includes students from both EU and non-EU countries, students who pursue their studies either long-term or temporarily, with or without the intention of obtaining a degree. This includes exchange students (for example through programmes such as Erasmus, DAAD, or Fulbright) as well as international degree-seeking students.
Participation requirements
You may participate in the study, if you are an international student, at least 18 years old, currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program at a university (including university of applied sciences) in Germany, and have your current place of residence in Germany. In addition, you need sufficient knowledge of English to complete the study.
You may not participate if you are an international doctoral student. Non-German students who were born or raised in Germany or who attended school (primary or secondary education, not including Studienkolleg or university) in Germany — even for a short period — are also not eligible to participate. We appreciate your interest and thank you for your understanding.
The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. By participating, you are contributing to current research in this important field.
You may take breaks at any time and navigate freely forward and backward within the questionnaire. Your progress will be saved automatically until you submit the completed survey. By clicking “Next”, you will be directed to the consent form for participation in the study.
